Like every every year, Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Divyayan Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ranchi organised regional Kisan Mela (Block Level Farmers’ Fair) at village-Bhant Borey under Burmu Block of Ranchi district on 27 December 2016. The aim and objective of this Kisan Mela was to create awareness about the latest technologies in the field of Agriculture and Allied trades among the farmers as well as to inform them about assistance being provided to small and marginal farmers under various schemes of state and central govt. for the development of agricultural sector. The theme of the mela was Organic Farming-Successful Farmer-Prosperous Nation.
The mela was inaugurated jointly by the chief guest of the occasion Sri Jitu Charan Oraon, Hon’ble M.L.A. of Kanke, Sri Jata Shankar Choudhury, Director Agriculture, Govt. of Jharkhand and Rev Swami Bhaveshananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Morabadi, Ranchi in the gracious presence of Director NHM and Fisheries, Sri Vikash Kumar District Agriculture officer, Ranchi, Smt Parvati Devi, Zilla Parishad Upadhyaksh and Dr. Ajeet Singh, Senior Scientist along with other scientists of this KVK.
The mela had different stalls for different agricultural produce,agricultural equipment, cottage industry, Self Help Groups, Books and literature, food processing, animal husbandry etc.
The mela recieved 427 crop and vegetable exhibits, 25 birds and animals exhibits and 26 exhibits related to cottage industries. In all 109 farmers were awarded for the best quality exhibits.
Ms. Sarita Oraon a National Level wrestler was honored in the mela by Rev Swami Bhaveshananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Morabadi, Ranchi
