Sri Gandura Oraon, one of the farmers of our adopted village Gurgurjari under Mandar Block of Ranchi Districthas been awarded as “JHARKHAND SAMMAN” by Sri Raghubar Das, honourable Chief Minister of Jharkhand on occasion of 18th Foundation day of Jharkhand for his outstanding achievement in the field of agriculture and motivating his fellow villagers to adopt new technologies of agriculture and enabling them to break the vicious circle of marginalization.
Divyayan Krishi Vigyan Kendra (DKVK) has been the source of knowledge and inspiration since the year 2006 when he came in contact with DKVK for 6 week training in Integrated Agriculture. In the beginning he concentrated on the cultivation of paddy and vegetables and later on, under the guidance of DKVK he procured tractor, rotavator, power tiller, pump set etc under various schemes of government. With the guidance of DKVK and his own self belief and determination, he successfully started floriculture and today he has been a successful and pride farmer of his locality and has been a source of inspiration to others.
Even today he bursts into tears when recollects his childhood, how his entire family shifted to Allahabad in search of job and earned their livelihood as agricultural labourer. He owes his entire success to Divyayan Krishi Vigyan Kendra which sowed the seed of self belief and confidence in his heart and soul.
Sri Oraon was also given a award money of Rs. 1,00,000/- and memento by honourable Chief Minister of Jharkhand.
