The main objective of the NABARD-RIDF Integrated Watershed Development Project (IWDP)  is to restore the ecological balance by harnessing, conserving and developing degraded natural resources such as soil, vegetative cover and water. The outcomes are prevention of soil run-off, regeneration of natural vegetation, rain water harvesting and recharging of the ground water table. This will enables multi-cropping and the introduction of diverse agro-based activities, which will help to provide sustainable livelihoods to the people residing in the watershed area.
This project is being implemented in Murhu Block of Ranchi district since June, 2017 in collaboration with Jharkhand State Watershed Mission (JSWM) for developing watersheds. This project is being carried out in 33 revenue villages of Murhu and Khunti Block covering 8181.94 ha out of which 6969.13 ha of land will be treated to fulfill the objective of the Project.
