A special programme was conducted to mark the consumer Rights Day on 15th March, 2025. The
objective of the programme was to raise awareness about consumer rights and needs. The
programme was at Divyayan KVK. The theme of the programme was “A Just Transition to Sustainable
Lifestyles”. The session aimed to educate and empower the trainees of Divyayan regarding the rights
of consumers, with a special emphasis on the rights of farmers as producers and consumers within
rural markets. The sessions covered the six basic rights of consumers—Right to Safety, Right to be
Informed, Right to Choose, Right to be Heard, Right to Redressal, and Right to Consumer Education—
tailored to the context of rural consumers and farmers. Participants were sensitized on issues such
as fair pricing, transparency in input supply chains, quality assurance of agricultural goods, and access
to grievance mechanisms.
