To create awareness among the farmers mainly on newly lunched Crop Insurance programme of Government of India (Prime Minister Crop Insurance Programme) and other Agricultural technologies and implements, two Kisan Mela-cum-Awareness programmes were conducted one on 30th March, 2016 at Divyayan Krishi Vigyan Kendra and other on 5th April, 2016 at Getalsud Demonstration Farm in Angara Block of Ranchi district.
In the programme held on 30th March, 2016, Sri Ramtahal Choudury, Hon’ble M.P. was the chief guest amidst gracious presence of other dignitaries like Sir Jitu Charan Ram, Hon’ble M. L.A., Dr. R. P. Singh ‘Ratan’, Director, Extension Education, Birsa Agricultural University, Sri Ajay Kumar Singh, Director SAMETI, Jharkhand and Sri Vikas Kumar, District Agriculture Officer .
All the dignitaries spoke on the steps and procedures to avail the benefit of the newly lunched Crop Insurance Programme.On 5th April, 2016, a Kisan Mela-cum-Awareness programme with crop exhibition and other technological display was inaugurated by Srimat Swami Girishananda Ji Maharaj, Belur Math Howrah in the gracious presence of Sir Jitu Charan Ram, Hon’ble M. L.A., Sri Manoj Kumar, I.A.S., Deputy Commissioner, Ranchi and others.
In the Kisan Mela, around 261 crop exhibits were registered out of which 50 exhibits were awarded at the end of the Mela. The need to motivate and inform the farmers about the Prime Minister Crop Insurance Programme and to taking benefit of the programme was emphasized on the occasion.
