The access of women to national resources and for ensuring their rightful place in the mainstream of economic development. This Ashrama is committed to improve the status of women in its adopted villages in Ranchi district. The need of the hour is to create different opportunities to earn their livelihood. Towards this end, Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Morabadi has forged an empowering partnership with Jharkhand Women Development Society (JWDS). This Ashrama’s main intervention comprises of micro-credit and skill to generate employment opportunities. Increased income in the hands of rural women means better nutrition, health care and education for their children. It has organised village women into micro-credit groups. Group embers make monthly contributions to create a savings pool. The pool is used to extend soft loans to group members, thereby eliminating the stranglehold of the moneylenders. The system of mandatory contribution further strengthens the saving habit, leading to capital extension.
This Ashrama provides training to group members to handle bank accounts and understand the government development Programmes. Empowered groups function autonomously and take their own decisions, including sanction of loans to fellow-members and collection of repayments.
Rural women are also imparted skills training to enhance employability. They have been imparted training on Food Processing, Fishery, Poultry, Dairy, Bee-keeping, Seed multiplication, Bio-Fertiliser, Mushroom Production, Bamboo Craft and Agarbatti-rolling, Soap Making and Garment-sewing. This Ashrama goes a step further to help in finding market for their finished goods to encourage them more.
Keeping in view the importance of the spiritual development in addition to economical development this Ashrama has been putting various effort to inculcate spiritual values in rural women lives. It conducts regular “Bhakta Sammelan” and “Youth Sammelan” to make them aware of their eternal power. As we all are the part of the same Super Power so we all are equally divine. Through these sammelans this Ashrama has been able to put across this message among the rural and under privileged women.
