A development can not be called a real development without values. Creating awareness on moral values and spiritual values will help to build a positive, harmonious society and responsible citizens which will propel social and economic development in the state and the country, it would make people aware of their rights, instill dignity of labour, build their self esteem on one hand; build character, personality with self-confidence, faith and shraddha on the other hand. Moreover total quality development is possible when society is enlightened with spiritual knowledge. Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, Morabadi, Ranchi has been actively involved in the field of rural and tribal development, in the field of self-reliance, education, health, culture, social welfare and women empowerment for last four decades. For sustainable development of quality and standard of living of the rural masses the Ashrama has initiated a powerful movement of moral value inculcation in each and every section of society in rural and tribal areas. This movement was initiated through a project called “Door to Door Value Education” in the year 2006-07 and was completed in the year 2007-08. This project has brought an immense change in the mindset of the people which reflects in their words and actions. To carry out this movement in an intensive way and involving people from A to Z sections of the society. We also conducted the programme, “Uplift the Morals of Prisoners” started in 2005-06 and completed in 2007-08 successfully. Realizing the necessity of promotion of moral values in rural and tribal areas, we started a programme in Angara Block of the Ranchi District under the name “Value Education Programme”. Now the programme is complete in 8 Panchayats covering about 30 villages. Introduction: The foreign invasion, exploitation and influence of the modern system of education brought by Lord Macaulay to build a team of loyal officers to British Empire, delusion created by the Western Culture on the educated masses of the country, globalization and industrialization and media programmes are responsible for the fast erosion of values in the masses of India. According to Swami Vivekananda no other development like political, social, economical etc is possible without the spiritual and moral values. So the priority is to flood the whole society with moral values. The curse of lack of values, corruption, violence, unhealthy competition, lack of self-confidence, lack of mutual loving relation and selfishness has broken the backbone of the society. All sort of nervousness, worry, concern, apprehension, disquiet, fear is prevailing in the society of rural tribal villages is prevailing presently. The only remedy is to re-inculcate the human values in the society. To be particular about Ranchi and its neighbouring villages, Divyayan has been continuously making efforts to inculcate moral and spiritual values along with its efforts in eradicating economical insecurities among the people of its adopted villages through its various activities meant for self reliance like on campus and off campus training programmes on agriculture and allied-subject, providing suited agricultural technologies and inputs, formation of village level organization, Kisan clubs and forming Self help groups for starting small enterprises with judicious exploitation of Natural Resources. Our approach is always to achieve sustainable development which can be attained through development with values and ethics. We have never discouraged the economical development achieved through globalization but it must not change our value system and our culture. Keeping all these things in mind this project was undertaken in an intensive way to cover all section of the rural society, especially the teachers, children, guardians and village folks. With our limited resources, it was decided to launch the programme in Angara Block of Ranchi district. The objectives of the programme are as given below: Objectives: Ä To inculcate moral values in school going students. Ä To bring behavioral change in terms of hygiene in school students. Ä To train the teachers and govt. workers about the role of values and ethics for creating a conducive atmosphere for students to bloom with values Ä To bring awareness in guardians of the students about the role of values Ä To orient the common masses about the values |
