Skill Development Training for Rural Women |
|
Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Divyayan Krishi Vigyan Kendra with its concept of total approach for all round development of the farming community has been engaged not only in disseminating technology but also in other socio cultural development aspects like education, health and self-reliance for all. The Ashrama is committed to improve the status of women in its adopted villages. For this the rural women were organised in small micro credit groups known as Self Help Groups, which help the very poor women in meeting their emergent needs and paved the way to self reliance.
To ensure their rightful place in the mainstream of economic development the need of the hour is to create different opportunities to earn their livelihood. Keeping these objectives in view, these SHG women were trained in different skills to enhance their employability.
In the year 2009-10, 10 no. of skill development training programmes were conducted in Divyayan and villages, in which 258 rural women participated.
The training was provided in areas of Vermi-composting 1 batch, Mushroom Cultivation 1 batch and Production and Management of Cross Bred Goats 7 batches. Since, the women who have taken training in these courses belong to Self Help Groups, they will train their other group members and can take loans from Banks for starting their enterprises. Many of them started their income generating activities in small scale and planning to do it in a better way. The trained women are being self reliant gradually and increased income in hands of women means better nutrition, better health care and education for the whole family.
