A Faculty Centre of 'Integrated Rural and Tribal Development (IRTD)' of this university is being run under this Ashrama

The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India accorded permission to the Ramakrishna Mission to start a deemed university (under Section 3 of UGC Act) named 'Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University'. The formal inauguration of the university took place on 4 July 2005, Swami Vivekananda's Mahasamadhi day.

The present university is intended to actualize Swami Vivekananda's fundamental educational ideas of imparting life building, man-making and character-building education.  Value education will therefore be an essential component in all the courses of the university study.

The thrust areas considered by the university at present are: Integrated Rural Development and Tribal Development (IRTD). On 22 August 2006 a Faculty for Integrated Rural and Tribal Development (IRTD) at Morabadi, Ranchi, Jharkhand was inaugurated by Swami Shashankananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Morabadi.
