Different fruits and vegetables are displayed at the Mela

A regional Kisan Mela (Farmers’ Fair) was organized at Gutigara of Murhu Block of Khunti District. A  large number of farmers turned out to participate in the fair with their fruits, vegetables, and animals. The Mela was inaugurated by Sri Surendra Singh Mina, Deputy Commissioner, Khunti, Jharkhand. A meeting was also held to address the gathering consisting of large number of farmers, farmwomen, students and children. Meeting was presided by Swami Gyanpurnananda, Asst. Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Morabadi, Ranchi. In all 931 exhibits were brought by farmers for different section like Crop, Animal and Cottage Industry. 45 First and 45 Second Prizes and 5 consolation prizes were given away to the farmers. One farmer was awarded as best progressive farmer of the Block. A cultural programme was also presented by local tribal people in a magnificent and colorful way. While the Mela remained good learning lesson to the other farmers, it was also made quite enjoying to the huge gathering of around 3500 people consisting large number of students, man, women and children. It was able to bring the local rural tribal in a festive mood.
